Westwind Music will not be responsible for cosmetic finishes that may be subject to blemish, loss of lacquer or plating during repair procedures. Also, some instruments have more fragile or sub-standard lacquering that may lift or blemish more readily than others during heating, chemical cleaning, buffing or dent removal.
Note: Some instruments are of such poor quality that they may not be easily repaired or are made of materials that will break or even melt (pot metals) during normal repair procedures. This may add cost to cover extra time and effort to make these particular instruments playable.
Instruments damaged in shipping or subjected to any perils such as fire or theft while in for service, are not covered by Westwind Music. Insurance is the responsibility of the instrument owner. Most can be covered in the home owners insurance policy .... ask your insurance agent about it.
About Estimates
- Accurately estimating and conveying the cost of repairs is a time consuming effort especially where there is shipping and phone tag involved. The cost of estimated repairs will reflect this additional time.
- Accurate estimates often require that some of the work (disassembly) be done during the estimation procedure. Instruments may be returned disassembled (as is) if requested estimates are refused.
- Refused (requested) estimates may be subject to minimum shop fees per instrument plus shipping, handling and taxes.
- Estimates may be voluntarily provided (at no extra charge) if labour/parts/materials will exceed $100. (excluding shipping/taxes).
- Estimate repairs may be proceeded with if the labour and material costs don't exceed approximately 100.00 (not including tax or shipping). This policy will keep the price of the job down. Going back to it after awaiting estimate approval takes more time and must be charged accordingly. "Estimate only" request will be done, but will be subject to minimum shop charge if estimate is refused.
- Shipping and handling costs (if applicable) will be charged whether work is done or not.
Instruments that are not claimed within 30 days of completed repairs will be subject to a storage fee of 50 cents per day (7 day week). If no arrangements are made, instruments will be considered abandoned after 60 days and may be sold to recover repair and storage costs.
Only two attempts at communication will be made to notify customers that an instrument is ready for pick-up. Contact will then be the responsibility of the instrument owner.
All sales and service work must be paid in full before instruments are returned. Schools districts, Institutions or individuals who set up a credit account will be billed according to agreements.
